Terms & Conditions
The Thatched Inn - Operated by Thatched Holdings Ltd.
-
These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of the Thatched Inn website and to bookings, purchases, events, promotions and other services provided by Thatched Holdings Ltd, trading as The Thatched Inn.
Thatched Holdings Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 16115805. Our address is The Thatched Inn, Grand Avenue, Hassocks, England, BN6 8DH. You can contact us at hello@thatchedinn.co.uk.
By using our website, making a booking, purchasing a voucher, placing an order or using our services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions together with any specific terms shown to you at the time of booking or purchase.
Specific terms relating to a particular event, menu, promotion, private hire booking or other service will take precedence over these general Terms & Conditions where there is any inconsistency.
-
Our website is provided for general information about The Thatched Inn, our food and drink, bookings, events, promotions and services. We aim to keep information accurate and up to date, but menus, opening hours, prices, availability, events and other information may change.
Our website is normally available free of charge. We do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors or viruses. We may suspend, withdraw or change all or part of the website where reasonably necessary for operational, technical or business reasons.
You must not misuse our website, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or its supporting systems, introduce malicious code, or use it in a way that is unlawful or harmful.
-
Food and drink menus published on our website are indicative and subject to availability. Individual dishes, ingredients, vintages, brands and prices may change without notice.
Images are for illustration only and presentation may vary.
-
Restaurant reservations are subject to availability and are confirmed only when confirmation has been provided through our booking system or by The Thatched Inn.
There is no standard cancellation notice period for ordinary restaurant reservations and we do not normally charge a cancellation or no-show fee.
For larger parties of 8 or more guests, we may ask for a deposit to secure the booking. Where a deposit is required, the amount and any applicable conditions will be clearly explained at the time of booking.
For festive menus and certain special menus or events, we may require a deposit. Our standard festive-menu deposit is £10 per person. Special menus or events may require a larger deposit, and the applicable amount and cancellation conditions will be provided when the booking is made.
Where a deposit is taken, we will apply any refund or retention in accordance with the specific booking terms and applicable consumer law. We will not seek to retain more than is reasonably justified by any direct loss arising from a cancellation.
-
Please arrive at the time of your reservation. We may need to release a table where a party is substantially late and we have been unable to contact them, particularly where the table is required for another booking.
If you know that you will be late or that the size of your party has changed, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can try to accommodate you.
-
Please tell a member of our team about any allergy or dietary requirement before ordering and, where possible, at the time of booking.
We provide allergen information for the food we serve, but food is prepared in a kitchen where multiple ingredients and allergens are handled. We cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from a particular allergen unless this has been specifically confirmed by our team.
If you have a severe allergy, please speak to a member of the team before ordering so that we can discuss the available options and any appropriate precautions.
You should not assume that a dish is suitable for you based solely on its name or description. Ingredients and recipes may change.
-
Alcohol may only be purchased or consumed by people aged 18 or over, subject to applicable licensing requirements.
We operate a Challenge 25 policy. If you appear to be under 25, you may be asked to provide valid photographic identification showing that you are aged 18 or over.
We may refuse the sale or service of alcohol where legally required or where we reasonably believe that a person is underage, is unable to provide satisfactory proof of age, or is intoxicated.
Where alcohol cannot legally be supplied, any refund will be dealt with in accordance with the circumstances and applicable law.
-
Prices displayed on our website or menus are subject to change. The price applicable to a booking, order or purchase will normally be the price communicated at the time of purchase or ordering.
Unless otherwise stated, prices include VAT where VAT is applicable.
We accept the payment methods displayed or otherwise made available by The Thatched Inn. We may require payment or a deposit in advance for certain bookings, events, menus, private hire or purchases.
If an obvious pricing error occurs, we reserve the right to correct it. Where a customer has already paid and the error materially affects the transaction, we will provide an appropriate remedy, including a refund where applicable.
-
Where online ordering is offered, orders are subject to availability and are not accepted until confirmed by The Thatched Inn or the relevant ordering platform.
We may refuse or cancel an order where an item is unavailable, there is an obvious pricing or technical error, or circumstances arise that mean we cannot reasonably fulfil the order. Where payment has already been taken for an order that we cancel, we will arrange an appropriate refund.
Any specific ordering, collection, delivery or service charges will be shown before you complete your order.
-
We offer private hire and function arrangements subject to availability. The terms for each private booking will depend on the nature, size and requirements of the event.
A deposit may be required to secure a private hire or function booking. The amount, payment date, minimum spend (if applicable), event timings and any other special conditions will be confirmed in writing when the booking is made.
Unless different written terms are agreed for a particular event, we ask that cancellations are made as early as possible. Where a deposit or advance payment has been made, any amount retained following cancellation will be limited to amounts reasonably required to cover direct losses that cannot reasonably be avoided or recovered by re-booking the space or services.
If The Thatched Inn has to cancel an event, we will normally provide a refund of any payment made for services that we do not provide, subject to any different rights or remedies that apply by law.
The customer is responsible for the conduct of their guests and for any damage caused by them beyond reasonable wear and tear.
-
We want The Thatched Inn to be welcoming and safe for customers and our team. We reserve the right to refuse entry or service, or ask a customer or group to leave, where reasonably necessary because of abusive, threatening, discriminatory, violent, unsafe or seriously disruptive behaviour, or where required by licensing, health and safety or other legal obligations.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your legal rights.
-
Gift vouchers purchased from The Thatched Inn are redeemable against eligible food, drink and services at The Thatched Inn, subject to any specific terms stated on the voucher.
Unless a different expiry period is clearly stated on the voucher, gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Gift vouchers are not exchangeable for cash and no cash change will normally be given, although any remaining balance may be used towards a later eligible purchase before expiry.
Gift vouchers should be treated as cash. We cannot normally replace a voucher that has been lost, stolen or damaged where it cannot be verified, although this does not affect any rights you may have under applicable law.
Gift vouchers cannot normally be refunded after purchase except where required by law or where The Thatched Inn agrees otherwise.
-
Promotions, discounts and special offers are subject to availability and any specific terms published with the relevant promotion.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, promotions cannot be combined with other offers, discounts or promotions.
We reserve the right to withdraw or amend a promotion where reasonably necessary, including where an error has occurred or circumstances outside our reasonable control affect the promotion.
Specific promotion terms will take precedence over these general Terms & Conditions.
-
Where we run a competition or prize draw, specific terms will be published with the relevant promotion. These will set out eligibility, entry requirements, closing dates, prize details and how winners will be selected and contacted.
Unless otherwise stated, prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

We are not responsible for the content, availability or operation of third-party websites or platforms, except to the extent that applicable law provides otherwise.
-
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any statutory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to the above, we will not be responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable or that arise from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
These Terms & Conditions do not affect your legal rights as a consumer.
-
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, how long we retain it, who we may share it with and the rights available to you.
The Privacy Policy is available on our website.
-
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our services, legal requirements or business practices. The latest version will be published on our website.
Changes will not retrospectively alter the terms that applied to a booking, purchase or other agreement already confirmed, unless the change is required by law.
-
These Terms & Conditions and any dispute or claim arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you may have to bring proceedings in another jurisdiction.
