With the South Downs on our doorstep and some beautiful Sussex countryside surrounding Hassocks, The Thatched Inn makes a pretty good starting point - or finishing point - for a day on foot.

From local favourites including Jack & Jill Windmills, Ditchling Beacon and Wolstonbury Hill to an easy wander through the countryside around Hassocks, there are plenty of ways to get outside, take in the views and work up an appetite.

local favourite with classic South Downs views and one of Hassocks’ best-known landmarks. A great option for stretching your legs before heading back to the pub.

Ditchling Beacon & the South Downs
For something a little more adventurous, head up onto the South Downs for sweeping Sussex views and a proper countryside walk.

Wolstonbury Hill & Hurstpierpoint
For rolling countryside and village views, head towards Wolstonbury Hill and Hurstpierpoint. A lovely local loop for getting some fresh air and working up an appetite before heading back to the pub.

Fancy something a little more low-key?

You don’t need a mapped-out route to enjoy the countryside around us. Simply head out for a wander around Hassocks and the surrounding countryside, take in the South Downs views and see where your feet take you.

And four-legged friends are very welcome to come along too.
